Policy Formation and Change Via Reserach

 

Z E P H I R O is a progressive cutting-edge civil society organization working to fight institutions, norms and practices restricting and oppressing individual gender and sexual freedom through advocacy, litigation, research, education and culture. Z E P H I R O's credo is that a societal change could be best achieved via effective policy interventions based on high-quality and objective research and analysis on issues at the top of the national and international policy agendas. We are convinced that a top-quality independent research provides a strong empirical basis for policy formation, and therefore, we strive to conduct diverse research that would lay the foundations for effective advocacy, campaigning and litigation and would lead to tangible impacts and have implications for sexual and gender freedom of individuals. 

 

What We Do: Our Efforts

Four Core Directions

 

We address the challenges posed by the discriminatory laws and social bias by several main types of activity:

 

 

• advocacy & campaigning

• (policy) interventions & (strategic) litigation

• research & policy

• education & culture

 

 

 

1. We advocate for strong national, regional, and international laws and policies to secure the autonomy, dignity and freedom of individuals to freely lead their lives, choose their looks, career, beds and lovers as they please – irrespective of their gender or sexual preferences.

 

 

2. We litigate to ensure that the rights of individuals are respected and governmental protections are consistent with the rule of law.

 

 

3. We conduct research to catalyse policy change both on national and international levels.

 

 

4. We raise awareness & educate about technologies and laws that place sexual and gender minorities at risk, to ensure that the public and society is informed and engaged. We employ both informal education, as well as artistic & cultural means to pursue the society of the future.
